Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan 2025 Movie Review
The story kicks off with Saba Shergil and Jahan, who cross paths in a train compartment. One has a blindfold on (you’ll have to watch the film to find out why), while the other is genuinely blind. They’re headed to the same place, but their destinations couldn’t be more different. How their paths intertwine is something you’ll need to head to the theater to discover. The real question is: are you ready to take that journey?
The first half-hour of the film is a delight—tickling your funny bone, making you laugh, and convincing you that you’re in for a top-notch romantic-comedy-drama. You’ll settle in with your popcorn (if you’re the type to munch in the first half) and think, “Alright, this is going to be good.” But then, out of nowhere, the film loses its spark, cooling off so much you won’t even need the theater’s AC. The climax? So predictable you could call it before it even starts. A surprise element? That poor thing got lost somewhere in the backstreets of nowhere.
Directed by Santosh Singh, who previously helmed the popular web series Broken But Beautiful starring Vikrant Massey and Siddharth Shukla, Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan feels like Santosh couldn’t quite shake off his web-series style. Or maybe the long, dragged-out script tied his hands. The film is riddled with noticeable plot holes.
Speaking of plot holes, there are plenty. For instance, when Saba is blindfolded, does she also lose her sense of hearing? How does she not notice that the person she’s with is using a walking stick? There’s even a song sequence where Saba dances while holding Jahan’s walking stick, as if she has no clue what it’s for. These kinds of inconsistencies are scattered throughout, raising questions about the story’s credibility. Some scenes are fun, but overall, the film fails to hold your interest.
