Sitaare Zameen Par 2025 Movie Review

A brash, self-absorbed basketball coach, sidelined from his job, is tasked with an unexpected challenge: transform a group of young adults, many with Down’s Syndrome, into a tournament-ready team in just three months as part of his community service. Adapted from the 2018 Spanish film Campeones, Sitaare Zameen Par embraces the original’s upbeat spirit to clinch its victories, while also capturing the audience’s heart.

Gulshan (Aamir Khan) is a man with an attitude that alienates those around him. His wife, Sunita (Genelia D’Souza), longs for a child, but he’s uninterested. His senior coach demands discipline, yet Gulshan rebels. A drunk driving incident lands him at a vocational center for individuals with special needs, where he meets a lively group of young adults—Satbir, Guddu, Bantu, Hargovind, Sharmaji, Lotus, Raju, Kareem, Sunil, and Golu. Far from the “helpless kids” Gulshan initially perceives, these individuals shine with distinct personalities, humor, and a strong sense of self, despite challenges like unclear speech or traits associated with the autism spectrum. Gradually, what begins as a grudging obligation for Gulshan transforms into genuine care as he’s drawn into their vibrant world.

The film’s success hinges on Aamir Khan’s fearless portrayal of Gulshan as a flawed, unlikeable hero. Unlike the overly earnest Lal Singh Chadha, which missed the mark, Gulshan feels authentic—a regular guy who evolves through his mistakes, echoing Aamir’s memorable role in Dil Chahta Hai. This performance, paired with the film’s heartfelt narrative, makes Sitaare Zameen Par a compelling addition to his repertoire.
